New chain and sprockets

Woohoo, I put the new chain and sprockets on today. It goes much easier with an impact wrench, I’ll tell you that much. Last year’s three-day saga took about five hours today (including set-up and tear-down).

The Motion Pro chain breaker/riveter that I bought at Road Rider last weekend turned out to be a good purchase. Easy to figure out, easy to use, and it worked well. I say OK.

I already have a tutorial on installing a new chain, and I took some pictures and notes today for the sprockets part of the maintenance. I’ll post when the latter is online.

I just put a new chain on my SV, too. Didn’t need a Dremel or an impact wrench. The Motion Pro tool does a great job of punching out the old rivets all by itself.
It sounds like you tried to turn the front sprocket nut without punching down the lockwasher.

Nope, got the lockwasher out of the way first thing. That nut was just a sunufabitch to get off the first time. Suzuki uses some crazy-strong loctite on some of their bolts — I had to use a pipe wrench the first time I removed the bar ends, too. 😉
