Our orange power continued into the night with a victory over the yellow
team.
Eric and I stayed out as a D pair, which worked pretty well since his
speed compensated for mine. š Damn, I need to get faster.
I was checked in the ribs once but I believe that I slowed the dude down
with the massive girth of my hockey pants. For some reason, they stick
out about a foot (I’m not exaggerating) from my waist. I knock people
down when I turn without warning.
Anyway, awesome fun game. Now our team is drinking beer and
bullshitting, so I must stop being a nerd on my hiptop.
Tomorrow: the championship!
Sorry to hear about your ribs. That sucks. I got an elbow or something to the back of the head from one of the women.
The higher-level night guys on my team are really protective of the women players (Paul (#4) was even complaining out in the lobby when Jeanie got a penalty in the Red/Green game), but it seems like the Thursday level guys on all sides are a lot less so (I’m not implying that they should be actively protective, but it seems like the Thursday level players — again, on all sides — are more likely to hit or otherwise take advantage of a smaller player). There was a lot of frustration in our locker room afterwards that one of the Thursday guys on your team seemed to make a regular strategy of knocking down Cassie and didn’t get called.
Ugh, that sucks. I don’t even know who on my team plays which night, so I don’t know who to kick in the shins for Cassie. š
I’m pretty sure my rib check was a complete accident. I was only knocked down hard once by someone on the yellow team (not the checking time), and the guy who did it stuck around while I got up to make sure I was OK. Dunno who it was, but he was really nice about it.
