Testing the Nikwax

I rode through a pretty nice downpour on my commute this morning. I’d guess that it was about 10 miles of solid heavy rain, plus some drizzle on either end.

Here’s the damage:

Head: Totally dry — gotta love full-face helmets. The braid got a little wet though. πŸ˜‰

Torso: Totally dry.

Arms: The inside of my left elbow was a little damp when I got to work — time for the spray on touch-up! Otherwise, both arms were cold, but dry.

Hands: Cold but dry.

Legs: Totally dry. Not a drop got through the leather. Helimot makes good quality stuff, and the Nikwax Aqueous Wax did its job.

Feet: A seam by my left little toe left a quarter-sized damp spot on my sock. Otherwise, my feet were totall dry.

I was a little disappointed that the Kilimanjaro let some water in by my arm. I’m pretty sure I followed the instructions on the Nikwax Tech Wash and the TX Direct Wash-In, but I’ll look over them again tonight and double check. I don’t want to give them a black mark if I screwed something up. πŸ˜‰
