October shoulder update

It’s been a while since I’ve made a shoulder update, so I thought I’d post about it…for my own records, if nothing else.

After the Xrays showed the bilateral cervical ribs, I made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, who promptly scheduled an MRI.

I had the follow-up appointment with the ortho today; the good news is that the MRI didn’t show anything operable. Some slightly bulging discs and an abnormal curve in my neck, but nothing that can be fixed by surgery. The bad news is that that means the orthopedic surgeon can’t really help me.

So I’ve been punted off to a physiatrist. I see that doctor tomorrow. I’m hoping they don’t just punt me back off to physical therapy; not only have I already been to PT twice with no lasting improvement, but my insurance for chiro/PT is maxed out for the year already. Sigh.

So, I’m annoyed but happy that I don’t have to have surgery.
