Pics from the last couple of rides

I did manage to get out on my bike the last two Wednesdays (thank goodness for daycare!).  Unfortunately, this timing perfectly coincided with my latest hacker infestation…oh WordPress, how I love your convenience and hate your constant exploits.

Anyway, I wasn’t able to update the blog until I nuked everything from orbit and reinstalled.  As noted in the comments from the last entry, there are probably still a few links that aren’t working…feel free to drop me a line if you notice any and I’ll restore from backup when I have time.

Anyway, speaking of time…I don’t have any to write “real” ride reports from the last two weeks, but here’s a photo dump of my favorites.

Yesterday’s ride was pretty short because I had to get back to beat Wordpress into submission before picking the kids up from daycare.  But I did make it up to Alice’s for lunch and a quick jaunt along the coast again.

I just spent this weekend doing a full-job (first time on a moto) on my 2005 F650GS forks…the seals were…compromised…and without your helpful guidance and visuals I would have been struggling to say the least. Thank you for the time and effort in providing your experience and wisdom for what is a very simple job; but one that is not without a steep learning curve for the uninitiated. Your tutelage flattened the curve significantly and made the process much easier. The only left-over part was the cable-stay, which I could not for the life of me figure out where to re-install…you thought of that too! So back it went…funny: I actually thought the PO used a spare bolt (as one is much longer) and I puddled around my shop looking for a matching, shorter, bolt…for like an hour…then I re-read your re-assembly instructions and voila! That is why the bolt is longer. It holds a the cable-stay. I felt stupid but at least you answered that question…Thanks again! OBTW, one mistake I did make was the routing of the accelerator cable. NOTE TO SELF: it has to run INSIDE the fork tube otherwise it will be yanked by the forktube and cause excessive acceleration/revs.
    Ask me how I know, now. :) That routing is important…

    I stumbled upon your blog about two years ago when I searched for SV650 maintenance.

    It was such a refreshing read that I check back here every month or so in the hope that you may have made another ride report, post or update… It has been a long time since the last update, I really hope everything is fine with you.
