Dante sighting!

I am a total tool and keep forgetting to post that I had a wonderful lunch with Colleen (DantesDame on STN) last weekend.

Colleen is one of my favorite people on earth, despite the fact that she has chosen to live in Washington state and is therefore Way Too Frickin’ Far Away, even for sport-tourers such as ourselves. We have a grand plan underway to rid ourselves of Oregon, which will help a little bit…I mean, we’ll just relocate it somewhere, since the coast is pretty, and I did like the Oregon Outback…it’s just that the whole state is kinda, y’know, in the way.

Anyhoo, last weekend, Colleen was on her way back to Seattle after picking up a bike for a friend in Irvine, CA. You can read about her trip here, and you really should, because she’s a hell of a storyteller.

She called me from Half Moon Bay, and we made plans to meet for lunch at Cameron’s, a fun pub right off of Highway 1. They have a great beer selection, btw, which sadly I was not partaking of on this particular event, but fortunately their food is good, too.

Our lunch was way too short and consisted mostly of Colleen telling me stories from her ride thus far, and us taking goofy pictures out in the parking lot.

Colleen prepares for her future career as an upside-down-weather-map-drawer.

The general consensus is that the police bike is not a match for my personality. Something about no one taking me seriously? Hrm. 😉

Colleen is a naughty monkey!

I rode for a mile or so down the road with Colleen after lunch before turning off to do a small side-road exploration of my own.

It was, of course, wonderful to see her. 2007 may be a happily Colleenorific year for me, if she winds up coming down for Jim’s (TheExplorer on STN) backroads ride in July as well as to May’s ’07 West Coast Regional Meet. Yippie!

Now, if we could just do something about Oregon….
