Almost on the road again…

I spent a little time this afternoon looking over my Illinois map,
plotting Monday’s route. I was amazed to find the little AAA “scenic
route” dots following the Rock River between Rockford and Dixon.

Now, I lived in Beloit, WI for 4 years, and traveled to Rockford more
often than I’d like to admit, and I never saw anything that could even
remotely be considered scenic. Plus, the Rock River in Beloit
was…well, you tried not to touch it with exposed skin, if you know
what I mean.

So I think I’ll give that little route a whirl, just out of horrified
curiosity. Plus, it’s always nice to ride back through Beloit and stick
my tongue out at a few memories.
